Kent County Council (KCC) Trading Standards carry out background checks on businesses that want to be part of the approved trader or business schemes, giving them Trading Standards accreditation.
This gives consumers in Kent a choice of businesses they can rely on to act lawfully and legitimately, particularly those who are more vulnerable.
Scheme operators or trade organisations can apply for their members to be certified by Trading Standards. The scheme operator must carry out checks on their members, which includes:
- their identity
- their address
- any accreditation and qualifications they have
- that the business or trader has public liability and employers liability insurance
The scheme operator would also need to have a face to face meeting with members.
The scheme must meet certain standards and follow any recommendations that Trading Standards makes after an audit. We would also look to form a Primary Authority Partnership with the scheme operator.
KCC Trading Standards carries out a unique vetting process on members of a scheme to reassure customers and give them confidence. that we carry out the necessary checks on scheme members.
We partner with Checkatrade to run a successful recommended trader scheme in the home maintenance sector.
We have fully trained engineers available to carry out repairs at your chosen location, or at our service and repair centre. We offer a collection and delivery service and, where possible, replacement equipment, to ensure you can stay mobile. We recommend regular servicing to prevent any unexpected breakdowns. The important thing is that key checks are carried out and any necessary work is undertaken, to maintain your vehicle or equipment so it continues to perform at its best.
Protect yourself and others!
As part of our Premier Care Mobility Insurance cover, we are able to protect you against any eventuality. Every year, 100’s of vehicles are lost, stolen, damaged or in an accident. We all know accidents happen, but it would also be nice to know that you and your product were covered for the costs of repairs. You may not think you need Public Liability cover – but with more cars and people using our roads and pavements than ever, before the risk of coming into contact with someone else is increasing.
Premier Care Insurance gives you all this and more; from as little as 22p per day.
