Outside of work, Mathew is a gaming enthusiast with an incredibly diverse taste in music, spanning everything from classical to K-pop. He is also renowned for baking what is arguably the world’s tastiest cheesecake.
Amanda Gerrard
Folkestone Branch Manager
Amanda has been a dedicated member of the Safe Hands team since 2000, bringing over two decades of experience to her role as Folkestone Branch Manager. She is highly qualified in her field, holding NVQ Levels 1 through 4 in Health and Social Care. Amanda’s background ensures the highest standards of care at her branch. Outside of work, she loves tackling DIY projects, cooking up a fantastic roast dinner, and spending quality time with her family—including her famously troublesome English Bulldog, Bella.
Mike Barnes
Finance Manager
Mike joined Safe Hands in 2004, bringing extensive financial expertise and strategic insight to his role as Finance Manager. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT), a prestigious status that highlights his advanced skills and long-standing commitment to professional excellence. Outside of work Mike is an outdoor enthusiast who loves exploring on his bike. He is also a passionate photographer and cherishes spending quality time with his family.
Dave Sangster
Workshop Manager
Dave joined Safe Hands in 2007, bringing a wealth of technical expertise and hands-on skill to his role as Workshop Manager. He has completed specialist manufacturer training with industry leaders Pride, Celebrity and Electric Mobility, ensuring your equipment is maintained to the highest standards. Outside the workshop, Dave is a creative individual who enjoys spray painting and photography. He loves spending quality time with his family and frequently uses talents to create special projects for charity.
Vicki Brown
Buisness Development Manager
Vicki has been a part of the Safe Hands team since 2002. She holds highly respected professional credentials, including a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) and status as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT). This blend of operational leadership and financial acumen drives the company’s growth and client relationships forward. Vicki loves to travel and spend time with her family She is also well-known among friends and colleagues for making her famous key lime pie.
Hazel Leatham
Mobility Advisor
Hazel has been an invaluable asset to the Safe Hands team since 1992, bringing over three decades of dedication and experience to her role as Mobility Advisor. She holds an NVQ Level 4 in Management. Hazel is a qualified riding instructor, showcasing her ability to guide and support others with patience and clarity. Outside of work, she loves riding her own horse, Harley, and holidaying in Tenerife. She also self-admittedly confesses to having a slight shopping addiction!
Peter Bullett
Mobility Advisor
Peter’s journey with Safe Hands began in 2014, when he first joined the team as a Saturday assistant before successfully progressing through a full apprenticeship. Today, he serves as a knowledgeable Mobility Advisor, backed by a formal qualification in Customer Service. Peter has also completed specialist manufacturer training with industry leaders Quantum and Invacare, ensuring he provides expert, tailored guidance to our clients. Outside of the business, Peter is a dedicated family man who loves nothing more than spending quality time with his children.
Francesca Smith
Mobility Advisor
Francesca joined Safe Hands in 2022 during her gap year, a rewarding period that also saw her travel across Thailand and Bali. Alongside her hands-on experience with the company, she holds an impressive First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science, showcasing her strong analytical skills and dedication to health-related disciplines. Outside of work, Francesca is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys going to the gym. She is also a passionate baker with a talent for decorating cakes, and loves spending her free time with friends and family.

Steve joined Safe Hands in 2023, quickly becoming a valued member of the team. Alongside his dedicated role with the company, he also serves his community as an active firefighter—showcasing his incredible work ethic, problem-solving skills, and commitment to helping others. When he isn’t splitting his time between Safe Hands and the fire station, Steve is a passionate musician who enjoys writing music and playing the bass guitar. He also loves staying active outdoors by cycling.
